“Cincinnati BLM Mural” 2020

About Me

For me art is like therapy, a way to communicate what words may not be able to describe. Brushstrokes are like words and phrases that allow the artist and viewer to connect.

Art is powerful, and in the right hands it can be a weapon. Images can spark a deep sense of emotion, forcing individuals or groups to move. If YAH (God) is willing, I will use art to help spread truth and light throughout the Earth.

Like most children I started with coloring books and crayons. Later venturing into colored pencils and markers. I would draw my favorite cartoon characters, sometimes tracing the more difficult images. At the age of thirteen I was accepted into the School for Creative and Performing Arts, where I began to learn new mediums. Eventually, my beloved hobby began to evolve into a finely tuned skill-set. Through learning the fundamental elements of art, I was able to transfer more complex forms, from the world I saw around me on to the paper. Things that seemed difficult to draw in my past became less daunting. I began to see art in a new and refreshing perspective. I started analyzing objects around me by mentally deconstructing complicated forms into simple shapes. I began to pay close attention to light sources and how the light moved around objects. I paid close attention to colors and their relation to each other. I started to see the world through new eyes.

This new found understanding brought me to a fundamental realization in my life-- Everything is by design.

In “The Book of Genesis”, it describes the creation of the heavens the earth and everything therein. Genesis Chapter 1 verse 4 states, “And God saw the light that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness”. This shows a deliberate act to make contrast between two separate constructs while creating perfect balance. Every artist knows that light is the key, and without it you can’t create forms on paper, nor would we see color. Without light we couldn’t use our eyes to see the space around us. After reading these passages, it was clear to me who the greatest artist was, is, and shall forever be.

I enjoy painting with oil and acrylic paints, however I don't confine myself to one medium or one style of painting, so oftentimes when my work is complete, it is considered mixed media. It is important that I enjoy the art I make, so I try to do things that are pleasing for myself, while simultaneously keeping the viewer entertained.
